Ready to apply for college? Just follow these steps and you will be on your way to earning your college degree.
Step 1: Apply: Complete an application for admission and submit it to the college along with a $20 application fee.
Step 2: Transcripts: Submit a copy of your high school transcript or GED certificate. If you are transferring from another college, you will need to contact that college and request that they submit an official transcript to the Registrar's Office at Northwest State.
Step 3: Financial Aid: All students who plan on applying for financial aid need to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) which is available in the Student Services Office. Students can also fill out the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov To speak with a Financial Aid Counselor, stop by the student services office in C103 or call (419) 267-1389 or (419) 267-1333.
Step 4: COMPASS Placement Assessment: All new degree seeking students are required to take the COMPASS test. This is an assessment test that is used to help place new students in the appropriate math and English courses. The results of the COMPASS test do not determine admission to the College, however they do assist your advisor in course registration. Current ACT results may also be utilized.
Step 5: Advising and Registration: All new students are encouraged to meet with an advisor prior to registering for classes. Your advisor will be a member of the faculty who can help you register for the right classes and give you insight into career options in your field of study. Step 6: Orientation: Stay tuned to our website for dates and information about participating in an orientation session. You will receive important information on various topics that will help you in your success here at NSCC. You will also have an opportunity to take a tour of the campus.
