Applying for College does not need to be a chore. Just follow these steps and you will be on your way to earning your college degree.
Step 1: Apply: Complete an application for admission and submit it to the college along with a $20 admission fee.
Step 2: Transcripts: Submit a copy of your high school transcript or GED certificate. If you are transferring from another college, you will need to submit a transcript from any other college you have attended.
Step 3: Financial Aid: All students who plan on applying for financial aid need to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) which is available in the Student Services Office. Students can also fill out the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov To speak with a Financial Aid Counselor, stop by the student services office in C106 or call (419) 267-1389 or (419) 267-1333 or (419) 267-1438.
Step 4: Orientation: You will receive a letter from the Registrars Office containing dates and information about participating in an orientation session. While not required, NSCC highly recommends you participate in new student orientation where you will receive important information and take a tour of the campus.
Step 5: COMPASS Placement Assessment: All new degree seeking students are required to take the COMPASS test. This is an assessment test that is used to help place new students in the appropriate math and English courses. The results of the COMPASS test do not determine admission to the College.
Step 6: Advising and Registration: All new students are required to meet with an advisor prior to registering for classes. Your advisor will be a member of the faculty who can help you register for the right classes and give you insight into career options in your field of study.Step 7: Questions: If you have any questions Student Success Advocates are available at (419) 267-1320. The Office of Admissions is located in C106. Stop in and talk with a SSA anytime Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
