Scholarship
With QuickStart there are no hidden fees. The cost of the 10‐week course, online instructional supplements, books, testing, registration and application fees are all covered by a scholarship offered through NSCC and the Ohio Learning Network. Other than a small book insurance deposit (which is refunded in full once participants return course materials) students pay no hidden outofpocket expenses.
Earn College Credit
QuickStart isn't just another college‐bridge program, it is an actual college‐level course. Each QuickStart student who successfully completes the coursework will have earned 1 General Education credit applicable towards any degree offered at Northwest State Community College.
Financial Aid Assistance
Applying for financial assistance can be a confusing process. Further, students often make critical mistakes in the first few years of college that prohibit them from remaining eligible for federal aid through degree completion. QuickStart not only helps students file for federal aid, it provides the skills and academic planning necessary to stay eligible for aid over the long haul.
Exposure & Flexibility
QuickStart uses small class size, one day per week scheduling and hybrid instruction to make a big impact! Students will learn in both a traditional, face‐to‐face classroom as well an online class environment (this is known as hybrid instruction). This format gives students the opportunity to test their skills in different learning environments, teaching them valuable techniques and resources along the way.
Academic and Career Planning Assistance
Making the decision to go back to school can be a difficult step for students. QuickStart works with individuals to help them take that next step toward their future. Each QuickStart participant will meet one‐on‐one with an advisor to explore their personal, academic and career goals, and develop a customized, written plan that will help them find success. With QuickStart, students have a mentor who can help guide them through their education and achieve their goals.
